When this same man killed Faustino Hernandez,shooting him to death with the help of BelisarioSuarez, they made a great feast, in which, amongothers, Miguel S. Loayza, Luis Alcorta, BelisarioSuarez, Olivarez, and Dagoberto Arriaran took part,celebrating the graces, valour, and courage of theassassins. It is worthy of note that the Barbadosnegro. King, and the white, Olivarez (the one-eyedman), were the ones who shot the unfortunateHernandez in the head ; these also took part inthe festivity, which terminated in drunkenness andscandal, all with the consent and approval of themanager of El Encanto, Senor Loayza. This, Seiior Saldana, is what I know and havewitnessed, and I am ready to maintain this state-ment anywhere. Make any use you deem convenient of thisdeclaration, in favour of those sufferers. Senor Benjamin Saldana Rogca,—I write you thisto inform you about the horrible crimes, such asmurders, robberies, floggings, tortures, &c., thatare committed in the possessions of Senores J. G.Arana and Hermanos on the River Putumayo. The principal criminals are the following chiefsof sections: Armando or Felipe Norman, JoseInocente Fonseca, Abelardo Aguero, AugustoJimenez, Aristides Rodriguez, Aurelio Rodriguez,Alfredo Montt, Fidel Velarde, Carlos Miranda, andAndres ODonnell.
