English: A group of officers of the Royal Flying Corps. These men were among the first flying and administrative officers of the RFC, and some of the first pilots ever qualified by the Royal Aero Club (RAeC certificate numbers and dates in parentheses).[1]

Lieutenant (later Major) Basil Herbert Barrington-Kennett, Grenadier Guards; first adjutant of the RFC under Sykes. Author of 1912 article Military Aeronautics in France. In preparing the Corps for their ordeal of 1914, "He was a great disciplinarian, he knew every officer and man individually, he was universally liked, and he did more perhaps than any one else to hold the corps together and to train it in an efficient routine."[3] Killed while serving in the Guards, 18 May 1915[4] (No. 43, 31/12/1910)[1]:127
